Carlos Alcaraz has vowed to make life difficult for Novak Djokovic in 2024 after the Serb dominated the 2023 season without having much difficulty.

Alcaraz and Djokovic met each other for a total of four times in the current year — Roland Garros semi-final, Wimbledon final, Cincinnati Open final and ATP Finals semi-final — where the Serb emerged winners in three of them except Wimbledon.

Alcaraz enjoyed a great start to 2023 but he failed to maintain the level and dropped down massively after his triumph in London. However, the Spaniard is ready to do everything in his power to ensure Djokovic’s ambitions for next year go to ruins.

“Djokovic said he was ready to win the four Grand Slams and Olympic gold, but we’re here to stop him,” Alcaraz told local media.

“The first part of my season was spectacular, but after Wimbledon I went through a slightly negative period,” explained Alcaraz. “But I think that’s normal and that I need to learn from these situations.”

It is worth mentioning that 2023 belonged to Djokovic, who, even at the age of 36, showed no signs of decline and dominated in the entire 2023 season as he featured in all four Grand Slam finals and won three of them — Australian Open, French Open, US Open.

Djokovic recently clinched the ATP Finals after beating Jannik Sinner in straight sets in the final and confirmed that he has no intention to stop and is now aiming for a “Golden Slam” — winning all major titles and a gold medal in the Olympics — for the next year.

However, his remarkable 2023 campaign saw a disappointing end as the Serbian was defeated by Sinner in the semi-final of Davis Cup 2023.
