Barcelona face a significant challenge ahead of the summer transfer window as they look to address their finances and venture into the market seeking reinforcements for their squad.

The Catalans are prioritising a pivot and are also eyeing other positions such as central midfield, left-wing, and fullback roles as areas requiring strengthening.

While the specific transfer targets remain undisclosed, one player that Xavi and Deco are hopeful of acquiring this summer is Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva.

According to renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona are seriously considering the prospect of securing Silva's services this summer. He is a coveted player for Xavi and the sporting director, Deco.

They believe he can be a differential player and elevate the team’s level to another echelon, which will aid them in contending for the Champions League.

However, the operation is quite intricate. Barcelona have been grappling with financial issues over the past few years and will need to await the unfolding of their Financial Fair Play situation before proceeding.

Fortunately for the Catalans, unlike their previous pursuit of Bernardo Silva in recent years, his price tag this summer will be €58 million (£50 million) owing to the release clause in his contract.

Moreover, while the player also favours a move to Barcelona, as disclosed by Joao Felix, that money is mostly earmarked for acquiring a pivot, with Martin Zubimendi and Joshua Kimmich emerging as top contenders on the shortlist for ideal signings.

Reports have additionally suggested that Barcelona have approached Real Betis’ Guido Rodriguez regarding a potential free transfer move in the summer, although no significant progress has been made.

If that move materialise, the Catalans may be able to generate enough funds to make a substantial bid for Bernardo. however, until that happens, the operation appears unfeasible.
