KARACHI: Fast-bowler Aamer Jamal became the 14th Pakistan to achieve a 5-wicket haul on his debut.

Aamir finished with 6 for 111 on day two of the Perth Test as Australia were bowled out for 487, moments after lunch.

Before Jamal, Arif Butt, Mohammad Nazir, Shahid Nazir, Mohammad Zahid, Shahid Afridi, Mohammad Sami, Shabbir Ahmed, Yasir Arafat, Wahab Riaz, Tanvir Ahmed, Bilal Asif, Nauman Ali and Abrar Ahmed had also taken a five-wicket haul on their Test debuts.

Jamal is also the only second Pakistani after Arif Butt to achieve this feat on Australian soil. Butt had claimed this feat at Melbourne in 1964.

These were also the sixth-best bowling figures by a Pakistan player on Test debut.

The other debutant for Pakistan, Khurram Shahzad, claimed two wickets in Australia’s first innings. Meanwhile, Shaheen Afridi and Faheem Ashraf bagged one each.

David Warner top-scored for the hosts with 164 runs, meanwhile Mitchell Marsh scored quick-fire 90 runs.

The last time Pakistan won a Test Down Under was in late 1995 when nearly half of the current side were not even born, and in Pat Cummins-led Australia they face the reigning world Test champions.
