LAHORE: The 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) could take place in April-May next year.

The decision has been taken because the event will clash with the ICC Champions Trophy in the February-March window.

According to sources, the window between April 8 and May 20 has been suggested by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to the PSL franchises. However, it will clash with the Indian Premier League which usually takes place around the same window.

The window has been decided after taking into account players’ availability and workload management.

The PCB will also give all the franchise the option to sign a marquee player for the next edition of the event. The marquee players will be signed during the next couple of months. The PCB will also offer financial support to franchises over signing marquee players.

Earlier, Naila Bhatti, the PSL commissioner, had stepped down from her role, according to sources. Her resignation has already been accepted by the PCB.

Sources added that Naila, who was part of former PCB Chairman Najam Sethi's team, resigned due to differences with the board officials.

In March this year, Islamabad United won the PSL season nine after beating Multan Sultans by two wickets at the National Bank Stadium, Karachi.

Islamabad, led by Shadab Khan, claimed their third PSL title after emerging victorious in 2016 and 2018 and became the most successful team in the tournament's history.

The thriller was decided on the last ball when Hunain Shah came into bat with one run required off the final ball. The youngster smartly identified the gap at point and hit the ball for four.
