The boxing world was stunned last week by the announcement that Logan Pau's brother Jake Paul would be squaring off against the legendary figure of the sport, Mike Tyson, in a significant bout on July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas.

However, it has emerged that the 28-year-old was also extended the opportunity to take on Tyson.

Paul disclosed this information while conversing on his Impaulsive podcast and elaborated on his decision not to accept the invitation to confront the 57-year-old.

"For both Mike and Jake... The bag (payday), I mean at what point can you say no," Paul said.

"I said no to fighting Mike Tyson, I mean I was offered yeah I was offered but not on Netflix, and not for a big a—s bag. It was just like you know this could be a real fight,"

It must be noted Paul is not a newcomer to encountering some of boxing's most prominent figures.

In 2021, Paul took part in an exhibition bout against Floyd Mayweather Jr and managed to go the full eight-round distance with a fighter who is considered to be one of the greatest to ever step into a boxing ring.

Remember, the Jake Paul and Mike Tyson bout will be live-streamed on Netflix. Further details, such as the co-main event and undercards, will be disclosed at a later date. The event is a collaboration between Netflix and Most Valuable Promotions (MVP), owned by Jake Paul and Nakisa Bidarian.

It marked Tyson's return to boxing after a hiatus since 2006. In that event, Paul secured a knockout victory in the second round against former NBA player Nate Robinson, marking Paul's second professional boxing match.

Paul has racked up a pro record of 9 wins, 1 loss, with 6 knockouts since his debut in January 2020. He most recently defeated Ryan Bourland via TKO on March 2. Tyson has a pro record of 50 wins, and 6 losses, with 44 knockouts.

This marks Netflix’s latest venture into the world of live sports. The streaming giant most recently aired “The Netflix Slam,” a tennis matchup between Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz. Prior to that, they aired the golf event “The Netflix Cup.” Netflix is also set to become the weekly home of WWE’s “Monday Night Raw” beginning in 2025.
