An insight into the reasoning behind Kylian Mbappé’s recent trip to Barcelona has been forthcoming online.

The name of French striker has understandably dominated the headlines in the Spanish media over the past week. This follows the 25-year-old's decision to not renew his expiring contract with long-time club Paris Saint-Germain.

La Liga giants Real Madrid have been presented with the opportunity to secure a deal for the player they have been pursuing for nearly five years. According to the latest reports, an agreement for a pre-contract between the two parties seems almost certain.

Unexpectedly, news of Real Madrid's potential next 'Galactico' being seen in the city of their arch-rivals has caused a stir this week. However, Mbappé's presence in Barcelona on Tuesday is, in reality, less sensational.

As per Diario Sport, the prolific attacker is currently on a brief vacation in Catalunya. PSG manager Luis Enrique granted Mbappé a two-day break, during which he, along with close friend Achraf Hakimi, decided to explore the beautiful city of Barcelona.

The duo has been spotted sightseeing and also visited the renowned Botafumeiro restaurant, a place frequented by Barcelona president Joan Laporta.

It must be noted that Kylian Mbappe has produced another impressive season in what could be his final one at PSG.

The 25-year-old striker has dazzled with 32 goals and seven assists in 31 games across competitions. That includes 21 goals and four assists in 20 outings in Ligue 1, where Luis Enrique's side are 13 points clear at the top with 12 games to go.

Mbappe has also scored six times (in four games) in the Coupe de France and four times in the UEFA Champions (in seven outings). The Frenchman scored in the 2-0 Round of 16 first-leg win at Real Sociedad last week as PSG sought to snap their run of consecutive exits at this stage of the continental competition.

The Real Madrid target was also on the scoresheet at the weekend as the Parisians won 2-0 at Nantes in the league to all but seal a third straight Ligue 1 title and tenth in 12 seasons.
