Paula Badosa and Stefanos Tsitsipas have formally ended their relationship after approximately a year together, the Spaniard Tennis star confirmed on Instagram.

The tennis stars initially hinted at their romance last June. However, former world No. 2 Badosa revealed on Sunday that they had mutually agreed to part ways.

'Tsitsidosa' captivated the tennis community when they made their relationship public 11 months ago. They playfully teased their connection by sharing selfies before officially confirming their status as a couple.

Since then, they have frequently been seen supporting each other from their respective player boxes during matches. They had even entertained the idea of playing mixed doubles together before Badosa's injuries intervened. Nevertheless, their romantic journey has now concluded, as the Spaniard announced their separation via an Instagram story.

“After careful consideration and many cherished moments together, Stefanos and I have decided to amicably part ways,” the 26-year-old wrote. “We have shared a journey filled with love and learning, and it is as friends with immense mutual respect that we now choose to move forward on our own paths.”

“We are grateful for the support of our friends, family, and all who have been part of our story. As we transition into this new chapter of our lives, we continue to wish each other nothing but the best in all our endeavours.

“We kindly ask for privacy during this time, and we thank you for your understanding and respect.” Tsitsipas has yet to publicly address their break-up, with the news coming solely from Badosa’s Instagram account.

Their breakup comes just days after they both suffered early exits at the Madrid Open. Badosa, who is still grappling with injuries, was defeated by compatriot Jessica Bouzas Maneiro in the first round.

The current world No. 101 recently disclosed that she had resorted to receiving cortisone injections to prolong her playing days and is hopeful of extracting another three to four years from her career.

Meanwhile, Tsitsipas was taken aback by qualifier Thiago Monteiro in his opening match last Saturday. The world No. 7 had a blazing start to the clay swing when he clinched the Monte-Carlo Masters for the third time and followed it up by reaching the final of the Barcelona Open. However, he failed to replicate his success at the Madrid Open.

It was during last year’s clay season when Tsitsipas and Badosa initially got together. The Greek star confessed that he messaged Badosa to congratulate her after her victory over Ons Jabeur at the Italian Open, and their relationship blossomed from there.
