Real Madrid are having an injury crisis and Rodrygo gave Carlo Ancelotti a massive scare as the forward went down while holding his right knee during Los Blancos’ 1-0 win over Alaves on Thursday night.

Rodrygo has been in impeccable form, having scored seven goals and providing four assists in the last eight games, exceptionally stepping up in Vinicius Junior’s absence.

Although Carlo Ancelotti confirmed in his post-match talk that Rodrygo is just a little tired, a reliable Spanish news outlet MARCA, reported that the right-footed forward will undergo tests to determine the extent of the injury, if there is any.

It must be noted that Ancelotti’s side secured a well-fought victory on their trip to Vitoria-Gasteiz courtesy of Lucas Vazquez's header in the injury time as they were down to 10 men following Nacho Fernandez's red card in the second half.

The win left Los Blancos on top of the league table on goal difference, equal on 45 points with surprise package Girona who played a 1-1 draw at Real Betis earlier on Thursday. Barcelona are at the third position with 38 points.

A toothless Real Madrid failed to create many clear-cut chances as they looked to be heading towards a dull goalless draw. But after losing Nacho, the Spanish giants improved their game and finally netted a goal when Toni Kroos lifted a corner to Vazquez who headed home from the crowded box.

It is worth mentioning that Los Blancos are having a difficult time dealing with injuries. During the match against Villarreal on December 18, David Alaba became the third player to tear his Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) and is set to miss eight months of action.

Los Blancos are now left with only two natural center-backs in the squad, Antonio Rudiger and Nacho Fernandez — who is suspended for the next league match after picking up a red card against Alaves.
