Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen became the first team to go unbeaten in the history of the Bundesliga after beating Augsburg 2-1 in their final league game of the season on Saturday at the Bay Arena.

Leverkusen finished on the top position in Bundesliga with 90 points which included 28 wins and six draws. They also ended Bayern Munich’s dominance in the league by becoming the first team other than the Bavarians to win the title since 2012.

Alonso’s side is also chasing the treble, they are in the final of the UEFA Europa League where they will face Atlanta on May 22 and after that, they will turn their focus to the German Cup final against Kaiserslautern on May 25.

If Leverkusen remain unbeaten in their remaining two matches, they will become the first team to win a treble without losing a single match in history.

There are only a handful of teams who have won a league title without losing a single match. Let us take a look at some of the ‘invincible’ teams that remained unbeaten throughout their domestic leagues.

Arsenal 2003/04:

Arsene Wenger became the only manager in the Premier League to win the league without losing a single match. They accumulated 90 points from 38 league games.

38 matches played, 26 wins, 12 draws.

AC Milan 1991/92:

Fabio Capello guided AC Milan to an invincible league trophy. In a 34-game Serie A season, Milan finished with 56 points.

34 matches played, 22 wins, 12 draws.

Juventus 2011/12:

Antonio Conte announced himself to the world in style after winning Serie A without losing a single match. With 84 points, the Old Lady won the league title ahead of AC Milan, who finished second.
