Pakistani wicketkeeper batter and former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed reached a unique milestone in First Class (FC) cricket during the encounter between the Karachi Whites and Peshawar at the Abbottabad Stadium in the Quaid e Azam Trophy 2023-24 on Sunday.

Sarfaraz, 36, who is the captain of Karachi Whites, completed 9,000 runs in First Class cricket and he achieved this milestone in his 174th match.

The 36-year-old has batted in 270 FC innings and has now completed 9,000 runs with an impressive 40.65 average. His high score remains 213 not out.

By the end of day one, Sarfaraz remained not out at 28* along with Aftab Ibrahim who was batting at 6*.

Other than that, Sarfaraz has also scored 3878 runs in List A cricket with a decent average of 32.31.

It must be noted that Sarfaraz is one the most successful captains of Pakistan in this century. He led the Green Shirts to the Champions Trophy 2017 triumph where they defeated India by 180 runs in the final as they were ranked number eight in the ODI rankings then.

During his captaincy, Pakistan also became the number one T20I team as he captained the side to 11 successive series wins.
