Real Madrid shattered FC Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez's dream after signing highly-touted Brazilian forward Endrick from Palmeiras.

Endrick is considered as one of the best young talents in football at the moment.

"Real Madrid C. F., Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras, and Endrick and his family have reached an agreement that allows the player to join Real Madrid when he reaches legal age in July 2024," the Spanish club said in a statement on Friday.

"Until then, Endrick will continue training with S. E. Palmeiras. The player will travel to Madrid in the upcoming days to visit our club's facilities," it added.

However, according to MARCA, the youngster's also attracted interest from Los Blancos' bitter rival FC Barcelona as manager Xavi was keen to sign him.

With the signing, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez broke the Spaniard's dream.

Endrick, who made his first appearance for Palmeiras' first team in October, became the club's youngest-ever goal scorer and helped the team win the 2022 Brasileirao Serie A championship.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid paid $63.6 million for the 16-year-old and will also pay an additional $12.7 million in taxes.
