France defender Theo Hernandez has said that the defending champions are not scared of Lionel Messi ahead of their FIFA World Cup 2022 mega final against Argentina at the Lusail Stadium on Sunday.

After defeating Morocco 2-0, Les Bleus secured a spot in the final. Hernandez scored the game's first goal, and Randal Kolo Muani added the second.

The full-back for AC Milan, who was instrumental in the team's victory, assured that the French players are not concerned about facing Messi.

He did emphasise, though, that France needs to concentrate on the entire group.

"We must recover for Sunday. We are not scared of Messi, but Argentina are an incredible team and we have a few days to work," he told Gazetta dello Sport.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, Messi propelled Argentina into the FIFA World Cup final after defeating Croatia 3-0.

Messi opened the scoring for Argentina from the penalty spot after they were controversially given one, and then he went on an amazing dribbling run to set up Julian Alvarez's second goal to seal the victory.

Earlier, French manager Didier Deschamps said his side will do whatever it takes to stop Messi.

When asked about Messi's eventual bid to win the trophy, Deschamps responded to BeIN Sport by saying: "We will do everything humanly possible for that not to happen. At the end of the match, someone is getting a third star on their shirt."
