ISSF World Cup: Two Pakistan shooters to participate in elusive event

Gulfam will feature in the individual and mixed team categories

KARACHI: Pakistan’s shooters Kishmala Talat and Gulfam Joseph will take part in the ISSF World Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan, from May 1-12.

According to details, Gulfam will feature in the individual and mixed team categories of 10m Air Pistol event.

Meanwhile, Kishmala will take part in the individual and mixed team categories of 10m Air Pistol event and individual categories of 25m Pistol and 25m Standard Pistol events.

The duo have already qualified for the Paris Olympics this year.

Kishmala qualified for the Paris Olympics 2024 earlier this year after winning the silver medal in the 10m Air Pistol event during the Asian Shooting Championship in Jakarta, Indonesia.

She qualified for the prestigious event with a score of 236.3 in the final.

India’s Esha Singh and Rhythm Sangwan bagged the gold and bronze medal, respectively. Esha had a score of 243.1, meanwhile Rhythm notched up 214.5.

Kishmala also bagged a bronze medal in the Asian Games last year.

In the initial round, Kishmala scored 575 points, securing her qualification for the finals. Demonstrating remarkable skill in the final round, she competed against India's Eshs for the gold medal.

Kishmala claimed the silver medal and a quota spot in Paris Olympics 2024.

Kishmala Talat became the third Pakistani shooter to qualify for the Olympics after Gulfam and G.M. Bashir.

In addition to shooting, Arshad Nadeem has also confirmed his place in the Olympics in athletics, while equestrian athlete Usman Khan's qualification position remains stable and strong.
