Punk kicked off this Monday Night Raw and confirmed sustaining an injury to his right triceps - WWE Raw

Returning superstar CM Punk disclosed on Monday that he has been excluded from the World Wrestling Entertainment's (WWE) prestigious Premium Live Event (PLE), Wrestlemania XL, slated for April 6 and 7 this year.

The wrestler, originally from Chicago, made a significant return to WWE after nearly a decade when he appeared at Survivor Series in November. He subsequently participated in his inaugural televised match with the company by entering the Men's Royal Rumble at the 27th position on Saturday.

It seems that CM Punk sustained the injury when he received a DDT from Drew McIntyre and rolled out of the ring while clutching his right arm. Referee Per Meltzer attended to him as the superstar exclaimed, "My triceps."

Meanwhile, Punk kicked off this Monday Night Raw and confirmed sustaining an injury to his right triceps which would keep him out of the Wrestlemania XL.

“In the course of the Rumble, I tore my right tricep,” Punk announced.

“And as much as I tried and I asked, ‘Maybe I can just tape it? Maybe I can make it to the Elimination Chamber and I can try to win that. And I can get my main event at WrestleMania.’ But it’s just not in the cards.”

According to sources, Punk will require four to six months of physiotherapy to recuperate from the injury. This timeframe will rule him out of any scheduled match for WrestleMania 40.

Reportedly, CM Punk was set to take on Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship at the flagship event, but his unfortunate injury might compel WWE to make an alternative arrangement for the champion.
