The WrestleMania 40 is closing and the rumours, reports, and speculations are increasing with every passing day. Similarly, a major update regarding WWE legend John Cena’s return has been reported.
Cena is widely recognised as one of the greatest wrestlers of all time and has a massive fan following across the world. It remains as no surprise that every single one of WWE fans looks for The Champs’ return.
According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter by Dave Meltzer, John Cena's involvement in WrestleMania 40 hinges on his Hollywood commitments. Even if Cena has filming obligations during WrestleMania, he could still make an appearance, provided it doesn't jeopardise his safety.
Meltzer mentioned that he was informed that if Cena does appear at "The Showcase of The Immortals," it would be for something significant, yet "short" and "enjoyable."
Cena's last match occurred at the Crown Jewel event in November 2023, where he was defeated by Solo Sikoa of The Bloodline. There have been speculations that WWE might revive this rivalry once Cena returns to the ring, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
Cena made his wrestling debut in 1999 and signed with the WWE (then WWF) in 2001. He would go on to become a 16-time World Champion and one of the most popular WWE superstars of all time.
Following his last match at WWE Crown Jewel 2023, John Cena experienced a decisive loss to Sikoa, who executed 11 Samoan Spikes. This defeat marked Cena's most significant setback since SummerSlam 2014, where he faced Brock Lesnar and endured 16 German suplexes. Cena bid a near-tearful farewell to fans after the Crown Jewel match.
Post the defeat at Crown Jewel, Cena hinted at retirement and has not appeared on WWE TV since. Despite his absence, no official announcement about hanging up his boots has been made
