WWE enthusiasts showed their backing for Cody Rhodes on Monday Night Raw shortly after Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson stirred controversy with his return to wrestling.

Since rejoining the company at WrestleMania 38 in April 2022, the American Nightmare has emerged as a true hero for fans. They are passionately rooting for him to 'complete his journey' by defeating Roman Reigns and claiming the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

At the outset of this week's RAW, the audience threw their support behind Cody, cheering his name while also jeering The Rock, despite the strong connection the People's Champ has with fans.

However, chants of 'Rocky sucks' echoed loudly as World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins humorously remarked that he never anticipated such a response. Michael Cole wittily referenced Dwayne's early persona as Rocky Maivia in 1996.

Footage on social media depicts these chants persisted later in the evening, particularly during Cody's main event triumph over Shinsuke Nakamura in a brutal Bull Rope Match.

It's worth noting that Cole twice mentioned during the broadcast that the match between The Rock and Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40 has not yet been confirmed.

This could likely change during Thursday's WrestleMania preview event in Las Vegas, with Roman, Rock, Cody, Paul 'Triple H' Levesque, and others in attendance.

However, the fact that Cody has yet to declare whom he intends to challenge after winning the Royal Rumble leaves some room for hope that he might still play a role in the Tribal Chief's plans at the Showcase of the Immortals.

One possibility, though not highly probable, could be a Triple Threat match involving the American Nightmare, The Rock, and the reigning champion. Another scenario might involve Roman defending his title against both opponents on consecutive nights at WrestleMania.

Nevertheless, Cody has urged fans to 'have faith' in the process while acknowledging the overwhelming support behind him.

"Appreciate the passion, God bless y'all... but," he wrote on X. "Trust me."
