Wahab announced cash prizes for athletes of his province

Pakistan's Test cricketer and Adviser to Punjab Chief Minister on Sports and Youth Affairs Wahab Riaz on Thursday announced a “good news” for Punjab athletes participating in the 34th National Games Quetta.

In a video statement released on the microblogging platform Twitter, Riaz announced cash prizes for those athletes who win medals in the tournament which is set to start on May 22 in Quetta.

"For the first time ever in Pakistan Sports history, all medalist from Punjab at the 34th National Games Quetta will be rewarded with following prize money," he wrote while also mentioning the cash prizes in each category. 

He said that the gold medalist of singles and doubles will get 5 lakh rupees, while the silver medalist will get 2.5 lakh rupees and the bronze medalist will get 1 lakh rupees.

Sports Advisor Punjab says that in the team event, the gold medalist will get one million rupees, the silver medalist will get five lakh rupees and the bronze medalist will get two and a half lakh rupees

Soon after taking charge as a government official for the very first time, Wahab was seen as too active in sports circles.

He recently successfully hosted first-ever Ramadan ul Mubarak Sports Series featuring events of badminton, hockey, cricket (tape ball), football, kabaddi, and table tennis.
