Lahore Qalandars' squad salutes to Martyrs of KP Police - Lahore Qalandars

Lahore Qalandars' skipper Shaheen Shah Afridi got a special fan to watch him play during their match against Peshawar Zalmi in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 8 in Rawalpindi on Tuesday.

Shaheen, who promoted himself in batting for the second time this season, got his proud father seated in the owners' dugout to watch his son play.

The left-handed batter made the most of this opportunity and struck his maiden T20 fifty. Shaheen, who came to bat at number six, scored 52 off 36 balls including three boundaries and five sixes but unfortunately, his side couldn't chase 208 runs.

Shaheen's father joined Qalandars' squad to pay tribute to KP Police's martyrs. He also met Shaheen's teammates and wished them best of luck for playoffs. They took photographs together and spent quality time.

It must be noted here that Shaheen's family has roots in KP Police. Last year, KP Police announced Shaheen as their goodwill ambassador.

While chasing a target of 208 runs, Qalandars were all out for 172 in 19.4 overs.

During the run-chase Qalandars' opener Shawaiz Irfan was cleaned up by Arshad Iqbal in the first over for a duck.

Meanwhile, Fakhar Zaman miscued a pull shot and handed Wahab Riaz his first wicket after scoring run-a-ball 11. On the very next ball, Sam Billings was sent packing for a golden duck by the experienced Riaz.

Azmatullah Omarzai got in on the action as well after dismissing the in-form Abdullah Shafique. The right-hander scored seven runs in 12 balls.

Lahore were reduced to 24-4 in the batting powerplay. However, at this stage, Shaheen Afridi and Hussain Talat notched up a 114-run partnership in 65 balls to give their side an outside chance while chasing the daunting target.

Shaheen Afridi went back to the pavilion after scoring his maiden fifty. He added 52 runs in 36 balls with the help of three fours and five sixes.
