Indian Premier League (IPL) side Delhi Capitals (DC) skipper Rishabh Pant praised Mumbai Indians’ opener Rohit Sharma saying that he understands the thought process of players.

Sharma will lead India in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 which will be played in West Indies and the United States from June 1. Pant praised The Hitman as a captain and hailed his pro-activeness while making decisions during matches.

"I think innovation. With Rohit bhai, we can come up with innovative ideas. He is very instinctive that we can do this particular thing with this player. He is very proactive. If you are trying innovations, you have to be open to innovative ideas,” Pant said while talking to Star Sports.

“He understands the thought processes of players, as every individual has their essence; the good part, the bad part. But how do you cope with it? That is very important.”

Rohit was removed as Mumbai Indians captain before the start of IPL 2024 as Hardik Pandya replaced him. The decision didn’t go well as the five-time IPL winners only won three out of eight matches so far and may not even qualify for the playoffs.

Pant added that the team trusts Rohit which makes him a trustworthy leader.

"He tries to understand what is the thought process of that particular player. Then he takes the decision accordingly. The trust factor which he brings in as people trust him. All these things I have got to learn from Rohit," Pant added.

Remember, Rohit Sharma led India to the final of the 2023 World Cup where India lost to Australia courtesy of Travis Head’s explosive innings. He was also the skipper when India made it to the semi-final of the 2022 T20 World Cup, where the Blues were handed a humiliating 10-wicket defeat against England.
