Wahab Riaz, member of the Pakistan men's team selection committee, has opened up on the rumours of grouping that emerged from the training camp held in Kakul recently.

There have been speculations in the media over the rift between Shaheen Afridi and Babar Azam after the latter was again appointed skipper of the white-ball side.

Meanwhile, Shaheen was removed viewing his workload management as stated by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

"There are so many speculations and things get worse because of us. When things were not clear, many were sharing different aspects regarding the rift.

"The perception was that if we had not have travelled to Kakul, they would have killed each other but when we went, we didn't see a much better atmosphere," Wahab added

"They were united at Iftar, indoor games, watching matches and discussing cricket-related things. We should look after different aspects while breaking this kind of news," he emphasised.

Remember, the selection committee announced the squad for the five-match T20I series against New Zealand which starts from April 18.

Pacer Mohammad Amir and all-rounder Imad Wasim, who recently reversed their retirement, have made a comeback in the squad for the series, which begins on April 18.

Meanwhile, Irfan Khan and Usman Khan have got the nod of selectors after impressive performances in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season nine.

The squad will be led by star batter Babar Azam.
