The Pakistan Super League saw one of the biggest trades in its history as Karachi Kings’ skipper Imad Wasim joined Islamabad United while Hasan Ali has joined the 2020 PSL winners, confirmed the league on Wednesday.

“HBL PSL 5 winning captain Imad Wasim will don Islamabad United colours in the ninth edition of the tournament. Imad, who was named as the All-Rounder of HBL PSL 8, has been snapped by Islamabad United in the Platinum category,” the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said in a brief press release.

“Hasan Ali (Diamond category) moves to Karachi Kings. By virtue of this player trade, Karachi Kings have received Islamabad United’s first round silver pick in exchange for their second round silver pick,” it added.

Things are starting to take place as the PSL 9 draft nears and we just witnessed a historic trade today as the Karachi Kings captain, who has been with the team since the first season, left the team to join the 2016 PSL winners.

Imad was the player of the tournament of PSL 8 with 404 runs and nine wickets in 10 matches.

“Eight seasons of passion and dedication, steering us through victories and providing leadership that brought us a trophy and countless golden memories. You've been the heartbeat of Karachi Kings,” Karachi Kings said as they bid farewell to Imad Wasim.

“Thank you for painting the Kings' canvas with glory. Wishing you all the best as you begin your new journey. You'll always be a King in our hearts. Farewell, @simadwasim!”

On the other hand, Islamabad United also shared their good wishes to pacer Hasan Ali, who made his debut for the team in PSL 7.

“Today we bid farewell to a true #Sheru. Hassan Ali, our #Generator, will be lighting up a new path with Karachi Kings in #HBLPSL9. Your passion & incredible performances have left an indelible mark on our hearts. Once a #Sheru, always a #Sheru. Good luck, Hassan,” said Islamabad United in a farewell post for Hasan Ali.

It must be noted that the PCB has already revealed the pick order for the Player Draft of the PSL 9.

Quetta Gladiators will make the first pick, meanwhile Karachi Kings and two-time champions Islamabad United will have the second and third picks. The fourth and fifth picks will be done by Peshawar Zalmi and last season’s runners-up Multan Sultans respectively while winners of the past two editions Lahore Qalandars will finish the first round with the sixth pick.
