The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has formed a committee to address recent allegations of a potential ‘conflict of interest’ within the realm of team selection.

In response to reports circulating in the media, the PCB has formed a five-member fact-finding committee tasked with investigating these allegations thoroughly.

There were allegations on chief selector Inzamam ul Haq, who resigned from his post earlier today (October 30), after it was revealed he holds shares in a company owned by players' agent Talha Rehmani.

This disclosure sparked concerns regarding potential conflicts of interest, given that Rehmani represents several of Pakistan's leading cricketers, including Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Furthermore, there are additional queries surrounding whether Inzamam's dual role as both Chief Selector and a shareholder in a company that represents top cricketers might have an influence on player selection decisions.

Meanwhile, the primary focus of this committee is to delve into the claims related to a conflict of interest that has emerged concerning the team selection process.

The body will submit its report and any recommendations to the PCB Management in an expeditious manner.

It must be noted that Inzamam was appointed as the chief selector of the men's national team on August 7 by the then-newly appointed head of the PCB Management Committee, Zaka Ashraf, after he assumed the role in July.

Under him, teams were selected for the Afghanistan series, Asia Cup 2023 and ICC Men's ODI World Cup 2023.
