Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has urged critics to wait till the end of the ICC Men's World Cup 2023.
The Men in Green are not playing up to the expectations since they lost three consecutive games in the mega event. They are placed sixth and have to win the last four games to ensure their place in the final four.
Babar Azam and Co. will lock horns against South Africa in Chennai tomorrow in a must-win game.
Since the criticism on the team has been coming from every corner, Sarfaraz Ahmed has backed the side to play well in the remaining games.
"We need to support the Pakistan team. Yes, they have not played good cricket but they can bounce back. They don't need to lose hope and give 100 per cent of the effort without worrying about the result," Sarfaraz said while talking to reporters after leading Karachi Whites to a Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2023-24 final win at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
“People who are outside must support the team and whatever things one has to say, say it after the tournament ends,” he added.
The 36-year-old finished the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2023-24 as second highest run-getter. He scored 697 runs and had 28 dismissals to his name. He was awarded the player of the tournament.
“I always try to continue my performances whenever I play domestic cricket and most importantly the performances have been beneficial for the team,” he added.
Remember, Karachi Whites secured their fifth Quaid-e-Azam Trophy title after overcoming Faisalabad at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, prevailing by 456 runs on the final day of the five-day final.
Karachi Whites' previous Quaid-e-Azam Trophy victory was in the 2001-02 season when they defeated Peshawar in the final by eight wickets. Prior to that, they achieved a hat-trick of titles in 1990-91, 1991-92, and 1992-93.
