Left-arm pacer Mir Hamza has given an injury scare to Karachi Kings after their first clash of the ongoing eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) against Peshawar Zalmi at the National Bank Cricket Arena in Karachi on Tuesday.

Hamza bowled well against Peshawar during their last night's high-octane clash.

After Mohammad Amir conceded two boundaries in the first over, Mohammad Haris welcomed Hamza with a boundary, but the left-arm pacer trapped the young wicket-keeper batter for an lbw with an in-swinging yorker.

In the same over, Saim Ayub was sent back to the dugout after an unlucky run-out following Babar's powerful straight drive, which hit Hamza's hand before toppling the wickets at the non-striker's end.

The deadly straight drive by the Peshawar Zalmi skipper forced Hamza to bowl only two overs.

The left-arm pacer was taken for scans last night, and the management of the franchise are waiting for the reports of the tests.

Hamza's fate in the ongoing PSL will be decided after the reports of the scan.

Put to bat first, Peshawar posted a massive 199 runs on the scoreboard before restricting the home side to 197-5 in 20 overs, thanks to Tom Kohler-Cadmore's magnificent 92-run knock and brilliant bowling display by the bowlers.

In reply to the total, after losing four wickets inside seven overs, skipper Imad Wasim (80*) and Shoaib Malik (52) shined to put on a 139-run partnership as Karachi made a comeback. But it wasn't enough to win the game.

However, Khurram rose to the occasion and repaid his captain Babar's trust by bowling a magnificent last over to defend 16 runs and win the game for his side.

It is worth mentioning here that last year Karachi Kings were also hit by injuries in their bowling department, with Amir and Mohammad Ilyas sustaining injuries that affected the 2019 champions' PSL campaign in the seventh edition of the PSL, where they won only one match out of the 10 played.
