KARACHI: South African women have qualified for the FIFA Women's World Cup 2023, scheduled to take place in July and August in Australia and New Zealand.

This is the second time the African nation has qualified for the prestigious tournament, which takes place after every four years.

'Banyana Banyana' secured their berth in the World Cup after beating Tunisia by 1-0 in the quarter-finals of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

FIFA Women's World Cup took to its official Twitter handle to welcome the qualified team.

"South Africa has qualified to their second consecutive tournament! See you in Australia and New Zealand," it wrote.

It should be mentioned here that the eighth edition of the Women's World Cup was won by the United States, who have clinched the iconic title a record four times.
