FIFA World Cup's original trophy arrives in Pakistan

The glittering original trophy of FIFA World Cup has finally arrived in Pakistan for the second time in four years. The trophy is arrival in Pakistan is part of FIFA’s Trophy Tour 2022 by Coca Cola.

Former World Cup winner from France Christian Karembeu stepped down carrying the 6.1kg Trophy from special chartered plane that flew in to Lahore from Uzbekistan.

At the Lahore Airport, Hajra Khan – Pakistan’s female football icon along with representatives from Coca Cola, welcome the trophy in Pakistan where it will stay for one day.

The FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour is an international roadshow, taking the one-of-a-kind, solid-gold Original FIFA World Cup Trophy to football fans into countries around the world to enjoy a rare, close-up view of the world football’s greatest prize.

The Trophy will be displayed at two different events in Lahore – one is for stakeholders and partners and other is for general public in which trophy will be placed for football fans at a concert later in the evening.

Talking exclusively to Geo News, the world cup winner from France Christian Karembeu said that it is a privilege for him to be back in Pakistan again with the FIFA World Cup Trophy.

“Always a privilege for me to comeback here, to visit people and of course to bring the one of the best trophies in the world, it is the unique world cup trophy. I always wanted to comeback here,” he said.

“Every kid in the world want to see and of course we need to respect that dream and we know that everything is magical when we have this (trophy) close to us.” Karembeu said.

Recalling his previous experience of being in Pakistan, Karembeu said that he was amazed to see the enthusiasm of Football fans in Pakistan and it was pleasant experience.

“Last time was incredible, I was amazed and thanks again for warm welcome today and four years ago that was one of my best memories, I remember that 15 thousands people came to see a trophy, I was not shocked but it was pleasant to see that here is the will, here they want to see the football and I hope there will be solution for them to be able to paly and be part of the competition,” he said.

“They need to play games and not to stop, believe that there’s always a hope that we can find a solution,” the former world cup winner said.

Talking about the tournament he predicted France as one of his favorites and named Brazil and Germany among other possible teams among top four teams

“My favorite is still France, this time it is going to different as we are playing in November December but for sure that the same team teams will be in top fours, Brazil, France, Germany along with an Asian or an African team can be there,” he concluded.

Speaking at the occasion Hajra Khan said that it was an honor for her to be part of trophy tour once again.

She hoped for an early return of Pakistan in international Football arena.
