Former England captain Michael Vaughan shared his list of most powerful batting units on Thursday.

According to Vaughan, West Indies top the list with Australia and South Africa in second and third place respectively. The top three teams are followed by England, New Zealand, India and Pakistan.

“Most powerful batting units are West Indies, Australia, South Africa, England, New Zealand, India and Pakistan — in that order,” Vaughan posted on X, which was formerly known as Twitter.

“If it’s a World Cup where 175 is par all teams have a chance. If it is like the IPL, score of 225, only one of the top four power hitting teams will win in my opinion,” he added.

Vaughan played 82 Tests and 86 ODI matches for England over the course of his career between 1999 and 2008. While he scored 5719 runs in Test cricket at an average of more than 40, the right-hander also accumulated 1982 runs in ODIs at an average of 27.15.

Earlier, Vaughan, in a post on X, had also predicted that England, Australia, South Africa and the West Indies will qualify for the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2024.

The T20 World Cup will take place at a total of three venues in the USA and six in the West Indies between June 1 and 29.

The tournament will begin with USA facing neighbours Canada at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas.

It is worth mentioning that 20 qualifying teams are divided into four groups of five, from which the top two teams of every group will make their way to the Super 8 round. In that stage, qualifying teams will once again be divided into two groups of four, from which the top two teams will make their way to the semi-final and then the winners will play the final on June 29.

England are the defending champions after beating Pakistan in the final in 2022.
