Pakistan’s limited-over captain Babar Azam seems to be enjoying his time in Kakul, Abbottabad, during the ongoing fitness camp under the supervision of Pakistan Army ahead of the T20I series against New Zealand on home soil.

“Relishing Kakul's scenery - wonderful!” Azam said in the caption of a post, which included two pictures, shared on his official Instagram account on Friday.

It must be noted that the Pakistan Cricket Board last month named Azam as the new white-ball skipper of the national side.

The PCB said that the change was “a strategic move aimed at ensuring player well-being and peak performance”.

Shaheen had replaced Azam as skipper in T20I cricket and Shan Masood in Tests last year.

According to sources, the fitness camp, which was set to conclude on April 8, could be wrapped up a day before the date announced earlier since the players will travel to Rawalpindi from Abbottabad on April 7 for a Iftar, hosted by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir, during the ongoing holy month of Ramadan. After Iftar, players will go back home ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.

Meanwhile, New Zealand will touch down in Pakistan on April 14 for the eagerly-anticipated series.

The two teams will play three T20Is at the Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi on 18, 20 and 21 April. Following that, both sides will move to Lahore, where they will play the remaining two T20Is of the series on 25 and 27 April, respectively.

All five matches of the T20I series will start at 7:00pm (PST).

Pakistan squad, which is likely to be announced on April 8, for New Zealand series is likely to assemble in Islamabad on April 14.
