Real Madrid forward Brahim Diaz decided to represent the Morocco national team after being consistently ignored by Spain as EURO 2024 is approaching.

Brahim, born in Malaga, plays as an attacking midfielder and right winger for Los Blancos and is one of the very few players in the world who uses both feet accurately.

Even though Brahim was born and raised in Spain, he is eligible to play for Morocco due to his father’s nationality. The 24-year-old made his senior debut for Spain in 2021 against Lithuania where he also scored a goal in 4-0 victory.

The Malaga-born was signed by Madrid in 2020 from Manchester City but he was immediately sent on loan to AC Milan where he stayed for two years and flourished there. Despite being a consistent performer, Brahim was given a cold shoulder by La Roja.

However, after an impressive season with Real Madrid where he registered 12 Goals and Assists despite not being a starter, he was included in Spain’s as well as Morocco’s pre-list ahead of the upcoming international break.

Brahim would link up with Achraf Hakimi, another Spain-born and former Real Madrid player who decided to represent Morocco and was part of the team that knocked Spain out of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

In another report by MARCA, it was revealed that within Real Madrid, there has been dissatisfaction due to the lack of attention given to their players by the Spanish Federation.

Los Blancos believed that the attention given to Barcelona’s youngsters like Lamine Yamal, Fermin Lopez, Alejandro Balde, Gavi and others has unjustly reduced the playing time for Madrid players.

Not just Brahim, a few of Madrid’s players like Dani Ceballos have been snubbed for Barcelona players in the recent past.

As EURO 2024 is approaching, the Whites will hope to have a greater representation in the European champion with players like Nacho Fernandez, Dani Carvajal, Ceballos, and Joselu likely to be called up.
