Wahab Riaz makes big announcement
Mega sports events will be held in January in Lahore
LAHORE: Adviser to CM Punjab on Sports Wahab Riaz has announced that mega sports events will be held in January in Lahore.
He said this while presiding over a high-profile meeting at the National Hockey Stadium on Tuesday. DG Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail, Director Sports Yasmeen Akhtar and Director Youth Affairs Rana Nadeem Anjum attended the meeting in person while all DSOs participated through video link.
Wahab said that Sports Board Punjab is also going to organis Inter-Division badminton and table tennis events at Nishtar Park Sports Complex in the coming days.
Earlier, former left-arm pacer Wahab was named the new chief selector of the Pakistan cricket team, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced.
Riaz, who represented Pakistan in 154 international matches, recently announced retirement from international cricket and was given the responsibility of selecting the team for Australia's Test tour.
His next assignment will be the selection of the squad for the five-match T20I series against New Zealand from 12 to 21 January in New Zealand.
