Former cricketer Simon Doull and Kumar Sangakkara included two Pakistan cricketers in their best-ever ICC World Cup XI.

The duo picked Wasim Akram and Imran Khan from Pakistan in a star-studded XI.

Speaking about Akram, Doull and Sangakkara said that the left-armer is one of the greatest bowlers of all time.

"I think his [Wasim Akram] ability to change pace, bowl with the new ball and swing it and seam it and then coming back to through the middle and at the end we saw in the 92 World Cup. The deliveries that he bowled when England were just flying and about to close down a World Cup, when he came in and changed the game. It was incredible," Sangakkara said on Star Sports.

"The greatest ever left-armer Wasim Akram," Doull added.

They also lauded Imran Khan for his consistency across multiple World Cups.

"At number 7, you need a consistent performer over a series of World Cups. It's difficult to look beyond Imran Khan. Being a spearhead and the innings he played to change games, including that 92 World Cup, we will have to go with Khan," Sangakkara asserted.

"I tend to agree with you on that. I just think to pick World Cup without Imran Khan in it. What happened in '92 ands winning of that World Cup, I think the way he led that side and what he offers across a wide range. I think it's not a bad third seamer to have," Doull added.

Sangakkara and Doull’s World Cup XI:

Adam Gilchrist (wk), Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, Viv Richards, Aravinda de Silva, Clive Lloyd, Imran Khan, Wasim Akram, Shane Warne, Muttiah Muralitharan, Glenn McGrath

The ICC World Cup 2023 will take place in India with 10 teams fighting for the elusive title across 10 venues from October 5 to November 19, with the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad hosting the tournament opener and the final.

The Cricket World Cup will be played in the round-robin format with all teams playing against each other for a total of 45 league matches.

The top four teams will qualify for the semifinals, which will be held in Mumbai on November 15 and in Kolkata on November 16.

Including Arvindra de silva in an all-time eleven is a joke. Besides the fact that Clive Lloyd was the captain ofthe most formidable West indian side does not qualify his selection in an all time eleven He was just a run of the mill batsman.
