Right-handed batter Shawaal Zulfiqar has been included in the Pakistan women’s team for the three-match ODI series against South Africa.

She has been added as the 16th member of the squad.

The 18-year-old Shawaal made her T20I debut in the first T20I match against South Africa on September 1 at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi.

She also played for Pakistan U19 in the inaugural edition of the ICC Women’s U19 World Cup in South Africa this year and also part of the Pakistan emerging women’s team in the ACC Emerging Women’s Asia Cup.

The three-match ODI series, also part of ICC Women’s Championship 2022-25, will be played on September 8, 11 and 14 at the National Bank Stadium.

It must be noted that the Green Shirts beat the Proteas by six runs in the third T20I and completed their whitewash against the visitors on Monday.

Chasing the target of 151 runs, the visitors kept on losing wickets at intervals but it was skipper Laura Wolvaardt who played a valiant knock of 72 runs on 54 balls with nine boundaries.

She single-handedly carried her side and was near to completing the target but the 24-year-old decided to go for a six but the ball didn't cross the boundary line and was caught. The visitors just needed 18 off 10 balls and it looked like they might finally win their first match but after the well-settled batter lost her wicket, none of the other batters could take their team over the line and lost the game.

For Pakistan, Sadia Iqbal and Nashra Sundhu took two wickets each and played a key part in their side's victory.

Meanwhile, in the first innings, Pakistan posted 150/5 on the scoreboard in the allocated overs.

Sidra Ameen, and Bismah Maroof both scored 39 runs each while the skipper Nida Dar played a destructive knock scoring 36 off 20 balls including six boundaries.

Pakistan won the first T20I by five wickets, while they won the second T20I by seven wickets.
