Pakistan's young hard-hitting batter Azam Khan said destructive criticism doesn't bother him.

Speaking to GeoSuper.tv on the sidelines of a Ramadan tournament's presser on Monday, Azam said constructive criticism is always welcomed.

"I can't shut anyone's mouth. Social media negativity doesn't bother me, I just try to focus on my life," said Azam who failed to continue his Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 8 performance in the T20I series against Afghanistan.

"I know people will criticise you the most when you are down. I try to ignore all the criticism and focus on my performance," he added.

Azam was highly criticised for failing to perform against Afghanistan in a three-match T20I series in Sharjah. People called him a batter of Pindi-type pitches.

"People, who think I am a batter of Pindi-type pitches, didn't watch my performance all around the world. See, it's their opinion. I don't play cricket to prove someone, I just play for my inner satisfaction," he highlighted.

"My father always helped me in differentiating between constructive and destructive criticism. I read constructive criticism and try to learn from it but put aside destructive criticism. I believe people, who write such things, I am far ahead of them and living a good life," he concluded.

Fans and also former cricketers questioned wicketkeeper's fitness. Azam, who hardly proved himself amid weight and fitness taunts, once again met same old debate after the Afghanistan T20I series failure.

Azam, who also dropped a crucial catch behind the stumps during second T20I against Afghanistan, also suffered weight-related criticism once again.
