Namibian cricketer and an integral part of Lahore Qalandars for the last five years, David Wiese highly rated the franchise which is one of the most followed teams in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 8.

Speaking to Geo News, Wiese said he feels at home in Qalandars' family. "It's honour to be a part of Lahore Qalandars," said Wiese. "It's rare that you get a chance to play for a franchise for five years. I get a lot of love and support here due to which I often feel like an adopted son of Lahore," he added.

Wiese represented Karachi Kings for only one season before joining Qalandars. He has so far played 42 PSL matches since 2018 and led Qalandars to victories several times. The right-handed batter scored 521 runs at an average of 26.05. Also, he has taken 35 wickets in the league.

While talking about Shaheeen Shah Afridi's captaincy, Wiese said he is cool and calm with an ability to take wise decisions.

"Shaheen has been fantastic as a captain. He took captaincy at a younger age and improved himself by the time," he highlighted.

"He remains cool and calm and also takes some really wise decisions on the field. He supports youngsters and utilise them according to their strengths. Looking at him now, I see his bright future as a captain," he added.

Under Afridi, Qalandars won their maiden PSL title last year. After struggling for six years, Qalandars finally won the coveted price at their home ground last year.

Meanwhile, Wiese thinks that PSL is strong because it produces young talent. "PSL is strong because we find young talented local cricketers here. These players rule the cricket world as we have seen in the past. We have so many examples including Shaheen himself," he mentioned.

The all-rounder, in conclusion, said that his team is currently in a good position to qualify for the next round in PSL 8.

"We are sitting in a good spot on the points table. We just need to continue this momentum and win the next games," he concluded.

After winning five out of six games, Qalandars are on top of the points table with 10 points. They have almost made their place in the playoffs.
