England's baton charge on day one of the opening Test must have put Pakistan's management under pressure as they looked different and made a solid comeback on the second day which resumed today at Pindi Stadium, Rawalpindi.

In reply, Pakistan safely negotiated the first six overs, while scoring 17 runs, before the lunch break. Imam was unbeaten on 11 runs, meanwhile Abdullah Shafique had scored six runs.

Earlier, young Naseem Shah, in absence of debutant Haris Rauf who was feeling strain in his right leg, led the bowling charge for the hosts after they had a frustrating first day with the ball. England resumed day two at 506-4 and could only add 151 runs in 26 overs.

Naseem's early breakthroughs put England on the back foot and they failed to continue their dominant show with the bat.

After a record-breaking score on the first day, England's batter fell apart on the second day with Ollie Robinson scoring highest 37 off 51 balls laced with three boundaries and a six.

An early wicket in the very first over of the day by Naseem boosted confidence of the hosts. A straight pitched-up delivery clean bowled England's captain Ben Stokes.

Stokes, who looked dangerous the other day, misread a slower ball from Naseem and had to walk off early, missing a chance to score fastest Test fifty. He scored 41 off just 18 balls.

Naseem was then supported by Saud Shakeel's safe hands on the leg side as he managed to remove debutant Liam Livingstone and centurian Harry Brook in quick succession. Both the batters gave simple catches which were taken comfortably by Saud.

Brook scored his too young Test career-best 153 runs whereas Livingstone made nine.

Pakistan's debutant Zahid Mahmood, who remained expensive for Pakistan, bagged two quick wickets to further dent England. He bagged Robinson and James Anderson to help Pakistan bowl out England for 657.

Pakistani bowlers didn't give many chances to England fans to celebrate today. Naseem bagged three wickets while Zahid bagged four. Debutant Mohammad Ali also took two wickets while Haris took a scalp on the first day.

Day one

England posted a mammoth 506-4 on day one of the first Test against Pakistan in Rawalpindi.

Four England players scored centuries as Pakistan struggled to pick up wickets during the day.

Four batters have scored a hundred on the opening day of the match for the first time in history after tons by Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope and Harry Brook.

Also, it was the first time in Test history that over 500 runs have been scored on the first day.

Stylish Ollie Pope followed openers Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett in scoring a century Thursday as England enjoyed a run-fest on a flat Rawalpindi Stadium pitch.
