Pakistan’s batter Fakhar Zaman has set his sights on winning the T20 World Cup 2024, which begins next month in the United States and West Indies.
Zaman was hopeful about putting up a good show while highlighting Pakistan’s performance in the last two World Cups.
“We will play the World Cup to win. We did well in the previous two T20 World Cups as well but weren’t able to win the title which is why we will try our best to clinch the trophy this time,” Zaman said while talking to a local sports channel.
“Our team has a lot of match winners and in T20I cricket you only need one player, be it batter or bowler, to change the course of a match,” he added.
Pakistan played the final of T20 World Cup in 2022, while they were the semi-finalists in 2021.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will announce the squad for T20 World Cup after the first T20I against England on May 22.
A total of 20 qualifying teams have been divided into four groups of five, from which the top two teams of every group will make their way to the Super eight round.
In that stage, qualifying teams will once again be divided into two groups of four, from which the top two teams will make their way to the semi-final and then the winners will play the final.
The semi-finals of the event will be played on June 26 and 27 in Guyana and Trinidad, respectively, while the World Cup final will take place in Barbados on June 29.
