KARACHI: Pakistan's star wicket-keeper batter Mohammad Rizwan surpassed India's dynamic batter Suryakumar Yadav to become the highest scorer of the year 2022 so far.

Rizwan was sensational for the Men in Green in the recently concluded tri-nation series, where Pakistan beat New Zealand by wickets in the final to clinch the title.

In his 18th T20I innings, Rizwan scored 34 runs against England on Friday to complete 821 runs in the shortest format of the game, overtaking Suryakumar.

Meanwhile, Suryakumar amassed 801 runs in 23 innings for his side.

Moreover, there is an intense battle going on between the two batters in the International Cricket Council's (ICC) T20I batting rankings, where Rizwan is placed first, while Suryakumar is sitting at the second spot.

However, there is only a 15 rating gap between them.

Pakistan will lock horns with India in their T20 World Cup 2022 opener at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on October 23.
