Pakistan named squads for Commonwealth, Islamic Games

Badminton team, who was reportedly forced out of the squad, has been re-included for Commonwealth and Islamic Games

KARACHI: Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) named Pakistani athletes and officials for upcoming Commonwealth Games and Islamic Games 2022.

According to the details, as many as 103 players and officials from Pakistan will participate in Commonwealth Games.

Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) will bear the expenses of 56 members of the squad whereas POA and national federations will take care of rest of the 27.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will facilitate it's women team in the event. Remember, cricket has been included among events for the first time in Commonwealth Games history.

Badminton team, who was reportedly forced out of the squad, has been re-included. 

On July 23, the Pakistani contingent will depart for United Kingdom. Pakistan women team is in Ireland to play tri-series, they will join the squad from there.

Commonwealth Games are scheduled from July 28 to August 8 in Birmingham.

Islamic Games 2022

A squad comprised of 114 athletes and officials will travel to Turkey for Islamic Games 2022.

73 athletes and coaches will be taken care by PSB while 41 members of the squad will be taken care by POA.

The Islamic Games are scheduled to take place from August 9 to 18.
