Best performers in Pakistan Super League history This year’s edition will begin on April 11 in Rawalpindi The tenth edition of the upcoming Pakistan Super League will commence on Friday, with the three-time Champions Islamabad United aiming to lift the title for the fourth time.

Babar Azam

Making his debut with Islamabad United in the inaugural edition of the PSL, Babar Azam soon established himself as one of the league’s top performers. The 30-year-old is the leading run-scorer in PSL history, amassing 3,504 runs in 90 matches across nine seasons at an impressive average of 45.50 and a strike rate of 127.41.

His most notable performance came in PSL 5, when he led Karachi Kings to their maiden league title. Azam scored 473 runs in 12 matches, earning him the Player of the Tournament award. In the final against Lahore Qalandars, he played a match-winning knock of 63 runs.

He also holds the record for the second-most runs in a single PSL season, scoring 569 runs in 11 matches during the previous edition, with an average of 56.90 and a strike rate of 142.60, including five fifties and one century — just behind Fakhar Zaman, who scored 588 runs in 13 matches for Lahore Qalandars.

Fakhar Zaman

A destructive left-hander and Lahore Qalandars’ most reliable batter, Fakhar Zaman is the second-highest run-scorer in PSL history. He has scored 2,525 runs in 84 matches at a strike rate of 140.27 and an average of 30.42.

He was Lahore’s standout performer during their maiden PSL title win in PSL 7, where they defeated Multan Sultans in the final. Fakhar topped the tournament's run charts with 588 runs — the highest in a single edition to date.

Fakhar is also the only player in PSL history to hit over 100 sixes, with 104 sixes to his name. The closest to him are Asif Ali and Kamran Akmal with 90 and 89 sixes, respectively.

Usman Khan

Multan Sultans’ middle-order batter Usman Khan has quickly made a name for himself, equalling the record for most centuries in PSL history with three, previously held solely by Kamran Akmal.

Two of these three centuries came during PSL 9, where he was the second-highest run-scorer, tallying 430 runs in seven matches at a stunning average of 107.50 and a strike rate of 164.12, including two fifties and two centuries. His performances were instrumental in helping the Sultans reach three consecutive finals, although they ended up on the losing side each time — twice against Lahore Qalandars in 2022 and 2023, and again against Islamabad United in 2024.

The 29-year-old has so far scored 747 runs in 17 PSL matches at an average of 53.35 and a strike rate of 159.27.

Hasan Ali

Karachi Kings pacer Hasan Ali is on the brink of history, needing just six more wickets to surpass Wahab Riaz and become the highest wicket-taker in PSL history.

Wahab currently leads with 113 wickets in 88 matches. Hasan follows with 108 wickets in 82 matches at an average of 22.96 and an economy rate of 8.03.

He also holds the record for the most wickets in a single PSL season, having taken 25 wickets in 13 matches for Peshawar Zalmi during PSL 4.

Shaheen Afridi

Despite not featuring in the first two editions of the PSL, Shaheen Afridi has rapidly climbed the charts to become one of the top three wicket-takers in the league’s history, with 103 wickets in just 71 matches.

As captain of Lahore Qalandars, he made history by becoming the only pace-bowling captain to lead his side to back-to-back titles in 2022 and 2023, both times defeating Multan Sultans in the final.

Shaheen also delivered a memorable all-round performance in the PSL 8 final, scoring a blistering 44 off just 15 balls — including five sixes and two fours — and picking up four wickets in the same match, earning him the Player of the Match award and cementing his legacy in PSL folklore.
