Multan Sultans skipper Shan Masood on Tuesday defended the franchise's decision to make him the captain in the presence of other experienced options, saying that it was a collective call taken with consensus.
"The decision was a collective one made by the team. They appointed who they thought was the fittest to lead them," Shan said in a press conference on Tuesday.
"When the proposal was presented to me, I took it as an opportunity and a challenge. I am very proud to have been chosen for the responsibility."

Shan further said that having more experienced players in his squad is a blessing rather than nuisance as it eases his decision-making.
"My job is easier because I have senior players who were former captains for the national teams, other leagues and counties. They make decision making easier," he said.
The left-handed batsman, who some say is out of his depth leading a side in the format, said that he takes criticism in a positive manner and tries to learn from it.
