Pakistan’s mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed revealed that taking the wicket of India’s talisman, Virat Kohli, is a dream as the arch-rivals will meet in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 which will be played in the United States and West Indies.

Abrar, who made his Pakistan debut in a Test series against England in 2022, is part of the Green Shirts’ squad that will play a T20I series against Ireland and England this month before the World Cup begins.

The mystery spinner is likely to be part of Pakistan’s World Cup squad. As the Green Shirts are in Group A, they will play India at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on June 9.

India recently announced their squad for the mega event and Kohli, the player of the tournament of T20 World Cup 2014 and 2016, was part of it.

In a media talk on Saturday, Abrar stated that the focus is just on winning matches for Pakistan. He also revealed his dream of taking Kohli’s wicket.

“I was named in the squad [for the upcoming] series, I will focus on every match,” Abrar said. “We have world-class spinners, the goal is to win matches for Pakistan.”

“Our target [in the World Cup] is all teams, [but] my dream is to take the wicket of Virat Kohli,” he added. “I’m also trying to improve my batting.”

Earlier today, it was reported that ticket prices have soared ahead of the Pakistan vs India match in the World Cup.

Daily Jang reported that a ticket which was previously available for $1300 is now selling for more than $2500 — nearly double as compared to the original price.

The reason behind the increasing ticket prices is the rise in demand due to the presence of a significant number of Pakistanis and Indians, who have immigrated to the United States and Canada over the past few years.

India have won six times in seven attempts in T20 World Cup matches against Pakistan, which includes victory in the final in 2007 and most recently in Melbourne in 2022.
