England pacer Jofra Archer, who last participated in a professional match in May 2023, has made a return to action for Sussex Second XI against Kent.

While participating in the Second Eleven Championship clash, Archer was back to his best, bowling at Beckenham on May 17..

The fast bowler began his preparations for the upcoming series against Pakistan and the T20 World Cup next month with a hostile spell of fast bowling, delivering numerous short balls that troubled the batters.

He began his spell by conceding a boundary off his first delivery but made a strong comeback, with his second ball rising sharply and beating the batter with the pace.

Archer, who had not bowled in the first innings of the match, took the new ball and delivered several bouncers in his six-over spell.

His efforts were rewarded when opener Ekansh Singh edged a short ball to third slip, where Henry Rogers took a diving catch to his left.

Archer ended with figures of 1-11 after his first six overs as Kent looked to chase down Sussex’s target of 292.

It must be noted Archer has not featured in international cricket for more than a year. His career has been disrupted by injuries in recent years, limiting him to only 20 international matches since the beginning of 2020. His last first-class appearance was three years ago.

The series between England and Pakistan is starting from May 22 in Leeds. The four-match series will conclude on May 30.
