Pakistan's former Test cricketer Rashid Latif raised concerns over fast-tracking Pakistan Super League (PSL)'s performers.

Speaking to media in Karachi on the sidelines of Peshawar Zalmi's talent hunt programme, Latif said PSL performers come into the limelight earlier than the domestic performers.

"PSL performance is the criteria of selection in our system," said Latif who remained associated with Karachi Kings in initial editions of the league.

"Qasim Akram was groomed to become captain of Karachi Kings but he didn't play a single game till mid of that season. If you want to make any player, send him to bat on top and let him bowl at the right time in franchise cricket. You will see that player getting selected easily. This is very unfortunate," he added.

The cricketer-turned-analyst also said that the selection committee also prefers PSL performers following the public support they have.

Currently, Latif is part of the selection committee in Zalmi's trials in Karachi. The three-day trials will conclude tomorrow at the Rashid Latif Cricket Academy.

As many as 10,000 cricketers from Sindh registered in the trials. Shortlisted cricketers will play a match on Sunday before finalising the final bunch of players.

Earlier, Zalmi conducted trials in different parts of the country. The franchise aims to find raw talent and polish them for national team.
