July 07, 2023

Pakistan's wicketkeeper batter Mohammad Rizwan won hearts of net bowlers during the last day of national training camp ahead of Sri Lanka Test tour.

Rizwan did long and scenario-based batting drills on the last day of the training camp at National Bank Stadium's Hanif Mohammad High-Performance centre.

After finishing his training, Rizwan met the net bowlers and distributed his shirts and cricket gears among them as token of appreciation.

Abdul Mannan, a sidearmer from Karachi, also got Rizwan's training kit as a gift. Speaking to GeoSuper.tv, Mannan said it was great experience training with Rizwan and Pakistan team captain Babar Azam.

"I enjoyed a lot with Rizwan and Babar Bhai. They taught a lot of things to me. They have created family-like environment in the camp which motivates all the young cricketers," he said.

During the training, Rizwan also challenged a Karachi-based spinner Abdul Hadi to take his wicket.

"Take my wicket and I will give you whatever you want except my bat," Rizwan told the young spinner.

Hadi couldn't take Rizwan's wicket but gave the star wicketkeeper tough time. After being impressed by his bowling, Rizwan gifted him expensive spikes.

The young cricketer shared his feelings after getting a gift from the international star.

"I never had spikes. This is the first I got spikes, that too from international cricketer Rizwan," the teenager told this correspondent.

"I really enjoyed bowling to Rizwan bhai. He has very good nature and he always guides bowlers where to bowl. I am really thankful to him for his guidance and support," he added.

Hadi plays for Hill Park Cricket Club in Karachi and wants to represent Pakistan one day.

"Bowling in the national training camp has helped me a lot. It has given me a lot of confidence which I will take with me moving forward. I want to represent Pakistan and one day my dream will come true," he concluded.

Pakistan team will leave for Sri Lanka tomorrow from Karachi airport. They will play two Tests against the home side which will start their campaign in the third ICC Test Championship cycle.
