Islamabad Capital Police has confirmed that top-notch security will be provided during New Zealand’s upcoming tour of Pakistan.

The Black Caps will play two T20Is and as many ODIs in Rawalpindi during their tour.

“Islamabad Capital Police is fully equipped and shall provide end to end foolproof and world class security to New Zealand Cricket Team during their forthcoming visit,” the IGP Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan said.

“Islamabad Capital Police had provided the highest level of security during the visit of the English cricket team and PSL 8 flawlessly in 2022-23.

“ICTP shall be playing key role for provision of flawless security in collaboration with other stakeholders in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.”

The touring teams stay at a hotel in the capital and travel to the Pindi Cricket Stadium for matches.

Earlier, it was reported that, the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police had "refused" to provide security, citing lack of human resources, for the upcoming New Zealand series.

"The police does not have resources for providing security," the sources in the police department told Geo News on Saturday, claiming that it is the Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) responsibility to ensure resources for security.

The sources said the police personnel are busy performing their duties at free flour distribution centres, ongoing census, and other activities related to the holy month of Ramadan.

It must be noted that the New Zealand squad left for Pakistan tour earlier today (Sunday), ahead of the first T20I in Lahore on April 14. New Zealand will arrive in Pakistan in the wee hours of April 11.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan players are currently attending a four-day camp, which began on April 7, in Lahore in order to fine tune their preparations for the series.
