PSL 8: 'Babar is bigger diamond than Kohinoor,' says Shadab Khan

Pakistan team's vice-captain Shadab Khan said that his skipper Babar Azam is a bigger diamond than Kohinoor. 

Speaking in an interview with a local tv channel, Shadab said it's injustice to criticise Babar who is currently Pakistan's biggest cricketer.

"I think we are doing injustice with such a diamond. Pakistan has been blessed with such a big diamond. He [Babar] is even a bigger diamond than Kohinoor," said Shadab.

"As a nation, we are not valuing Babar for what he is worth and are pressurising him. At the end of the day, he is human. We should respect him the way the world respects him,

"I am surprised when people doubt him as a captain or a leader. He is Pakistan’s biggest player. Our nation should respect him the way we respect him in the team," he concluded.

Babar is regarded as one of the finest batters in world cricket right now. The right-handed batter recently bagged ICC Cricketer of the Year (2022) award. 

Shaheen opens up about facing Babar

Lahore Qalandars' skipper Shaheen Shah Afridi opened up about facing Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam.

In a press conference on Saturday, Shaheen said: "Babar is a world-class player and he is every Pakistanis favourite. I have previously said that I enjoy bowling to him in the nets. Babar and Rizwan are the players whom I enjoy bowling to, but it's a challenge too. It's not easy. Even coaches are giving an example of Babar's cover drive while teaching. Of course, we will plan for him and do well."
