Multan Sultans' rising star Ihsanullah has said that he aims to become the top bowler of the ongoing eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

In an interview with Geo.tv, Ihsanullah said: "My target is to become the top bowler of PSL. I want to make Multan Sultans champions, and we will definitely win the trophy."

"If God wills, I will represent Pakistan. I am working hard and the rest is up to the coaches."

The pacer is currently the highest wicket-taker of the PSL 8, claiming 12 wickets in four matches.

Asked about his favourite wicket so far in the tournament, he said: "I have two. One is Jason Roy's and the other one is Babar bhai's [Babar Azam]. As you know Babar is the number one batter in the world, so taking his wickets makes you happy."

The pacer, who hails from Swat, also shed light on his performance thus far, claiming that he had worked hard before the event and it's now paying off.

"I have worked hard before PSL. After the Pakistan Cup, I went home for just one day. After that, I came to Lahore and trained at the Paklions International Academy. I also spent 10 days at the National High Performance Centre in Lahore. My hard work has paid off and now I am the top bowler in PSL. Before PSL I expected that I would give a good performance for my team," he said.

Ihsanullah claimed that former legendary fast bowler Waqar Younis is his favourite bowler and revealed that he helped him to correct his run-up and wrist position.

Meanwhile, talking about his background, the 20-year-old said: "I am a native of Matta Swat, played all my cricket there, and then gave trials in Mardan. In the beginning, when I was not elected, and I continued my hard work."

It is worth mentioning here that Sultans have secured three consecutive wins in the PSL 8 after losing their opening match against Lahore Qalandars.

The winner will not only lift the Supernova Trophy but will also collect a cheque of Rs120m, while the runners-up will receive a cheque of Rs48m.

Qalandars will attempt to become the first side to win back-to-back titles; meanwhile Islamabad United will aim to become the most successful side by lifting the trophy thrice.
