The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)'s Management Committee Chairman Najam Sethi thanked jam-packed Multan Cricket Stadium for welcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) season eight.

For the first time ever in PSL's history, Multan hosted the opening ceremony that too with latest technologies, including Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR), and a drone show.

Speaking on the occasion, Sethi told people of Multan that he fulfilled his promise of bringing PSL's opening ceremony to their city.

"Dear people of Multan, we fulfilled our promise to bring PSL's opening ceremony here," said Sethi.

"I still remember that time when we hosted opening ceremony in Dubai. From there, we took it to Lahore, Karachi and now in Multan. Next year, we will take PSL to Quetta and Peshawar," he added.

On February 5, PCB, in collaboration with Balochistan government, hosted an exhibition match in Quetta to break the ice. Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi played a competitive contest at Quetta's Bugti Stadium.

Moreover, Sethi said 21 foreign and 13-14 local players will be making debut this year which shows that PSL is popular all around the world.

"PSL has come a long way. This year, 21 foreigners and 13-14 local players are making debut. This shows that our league is a real platform to the youngsters," he said.

"PSL has given players like Shaheen, Hassan and many others. I look forward to seeing more players coming out this year," he shared.

Meanwhile, Sethi said it's difficult for him to choose between Lahore Qalandars and Multan Sultans in opening match.

"My heart is with Lahore and mind is with Multan. Let's see who wins today," he concluded.
