Yasir Arafat has become the first-ever Pakistani Test cricketer to complete England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) level 4 coaching course.

Taking to Twitter, Arafat shared that he has completed ECB level 4 coaching course.

"Alhumdulillah I have completed my ECB Level 4 coaching course. A big thanks to PCA for their support and to all the coaches who helped me achieve this," he wrote.

Arafat, who made his ODI debut for Pakistan in 2000, played 11 ODIs, 13 T20Is, and three Tests. The cricketer went to England after retirement and took permanent residence there.

Since then, he has remained part of England's cricket circle in various positions. Mostly, he coached teams at the junior level.

In 2019, Arafat reportedly applied for the Pakistan team's coaching. Reports claimed that the former cricketer was willing to become Pakistan's bowling coach.

At that time, Ehsan Mani was the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). He and his team decided against extending Mickey Arthur's coaching panel's contract. Azhar Mahmood was then the bowling coach of the national team.

Later on, Misbah-ul-Haq was appointed as head coach and chief selector whereas Waqar Younis was brought back as bowling coach.
