France forward Kylian Mbappe achieved a rare feat during his side's FIFA World Cup 2022 clash against Argentina at the Lusail Stadium on Sunday.

France were 2-0 behind Argentina till the 80th minute in the final. However, the PSG star had other ideas as he converted a penalty to reduce the two-goal deficit to one.

A minute later, Mbappe levelled the score after a well-worked goal by Les Bleus.

France won a penalty in the 117th minute as Mbappe's shot was blocked by the arm of an Argentine player in the box. He tucked away the spot-kick to complete his hattrick.

Mbappe amassed 12 goals in his World Cup career. With the feat, he also became the sixth highest goal scorer in the FIFA World Cup and also the youngest player to reach the landmark.

The 23-year-old also overtook the record for goals in the FIFA World Cup finals. He's now got four after his hattrick, surpassing Geoff Hurst, Vava, Pele, and Zinedine Zidane, who had three.

After his three goals against Argentina, Mbappe won the Golden Boot, with a goal over Lionel Messi.

It is worth mentioning here that Germany's Miroslav Klose holds the record for most goals — 16 — in the FIFA World Cup.

However, the reigning champions lost to Argentine by 4-2 on penalties after a 3-3 draw.
